It comes under the Bold Reports product and is not part of Essential Studio. At the moment, it’s available free for all Essential Studio users. We highly recommend this reporting solution, which has modern web report viewer and report writer components, for creating new apps. Essential Reporting, a first-generation reporting component from Syncfusion was initially released in May 2011. It includes support for platforms such as ASP.NET, ASP.NET Core, ASP.MVC, JavaScript, Angular, WPF, and UWP. We will continue to develop, maintain, and support this version for several more years. However, please note that development of new features will only occur in Bold Reports. To learn more about Bold Reports, refer to the link . Starting with the Bold Reports v1.2.7 release, we have shipped brand new reporting tools. It has several advantages over the first-generation tool and includes modern web-based Report Designer, Report Viewer, Report Writer, and Report Server. Here are some guidelines for choosing either Essential Reporting or Bold Reports. • Continue to use Essential Reporting unless you need access to a new feature or control exclusively available in Bold Reports. We will also be happy to provide the required assistance for migration. • Selectively use controls from Bold Reports. • We recommend using Bold Reports for creating new applications. There is a newer alternative available. This suite of ASP.NET MVC controls which was offered as Essential Studio for ASP.NET MVC till the Volume 4 2013 release has been marked as Classic and the newer set of controls powered by Essential JavaScript takes its place. The newer version provides several advantages over the classic edition including being purely client side rendered HTML5/JavaScript controls, offers better performance and provides better support for touch interactivity.The newer version includes all the features that the classic version had so it should be easy to migrate if required. The general guideline is that if you are using the classic edition of controls in existing products then you can continue to use them. However if you are starting a new project then it is recommended that you use the newer alternative available. Syncfusion will continue to maintain and support the classic version of controls for several more years. A new version of Essential Studio for ASP.NET is available.Versions prior to the release of Essential Studio 2014, Volume 2, will now be referred to as Classic versions. The new ASP.NET suite is powered by Essential Studio for JavaScript, providing client-side rendering of HTML 5-JavaScript controls, offering better performance, and better support for touch interactivity. The new version includes all the features of the old version, so migration is easy. The Classic controls can still be used in existing projects; however, if you are starting a new project, we recommend using the latest version of Essential Studio for ASP.NET. Although Syncfusion will continue to support all Classic versions, we are happy to assist you in migrating to the newest edition. Essential JS 1 is the first-generation JQuery based JavaScript UI framework from Syncfusion that was initially released in July 2013. This framework has been in active development for more than four years, and it is feature rich and mature. It also includes support for all popular browsers including older browsers like IE8. We will continue to develop, maintain and support this version for several more years. However, please note that new feature development will only occur in Essential JS 1 if an equivalent control is not yet available in Essential JS 2. Starting with the Volume 4 2017 release, we have also shipped a beta version of the second generation of the Essential JS library (Essential JS 2). This new library has several advantages over the first-generation library as it has been built from the ground up to be more modular, lightweight, responsive, fast, and has no external dependencies. Nevertheless, it only supports modern browsers starting from IE11 and currently only includes a subset of the controls available in Essential JS 1. Please note that we will ensure that any control in Essential JS 2 will have feature parity with its equivalent in Essential JS 1 before it is officially released. Here are some guidelines for choosing between these two frameworks. Existing applications • Continue to use Essential JS 1 unless you need access to a new feature or control exclusively available in Essential JS 2.
